friends4life

Turn your month into a magazine you can hold.

In the owner area, activities, events, and trips become a laid-out A4 monthly magazine as a PDF — print-ready for paper and shareable via a short link. You pick the period and sources, curate stories, and get a newspaper layout: cover with a dateline, a large masthead, a hero photo with caption, and two teaser columns with more air. Stories appear in full; long pieces flow across pages with a continuation and newspaper pull quotes. After the code layout, an optional AI art director may adjust position, size, and type within fixed rules — you decide in the editor. No extra app and no AI credits.

Benefit

Magazine — what it gets you

Software module and tactile product in one: layout in the club, PDF on paper to gift or hang — and digitally via a link.

Period & sources

Week, month, year, or custom. Sources: activities, events, and trips. Videos are skipped; guest photos and comments with text are included — emoji-only comments and the Social Wall are not. Trip days use the real day date; if an entry has no photos of its own, that day’s photos go in.

Curate stories

Load the pool, pick items, choose a category from the shared list or add a new one, optionally add a QR to an activity, event, or trip (it sits at the end of the text in the layout and the PDF; if there are more than 6 photos it appears automatically), choose the lead article. Tests, keyboard smash, and empty posts without text or a photo are already filtered out; comments are cleaned. An event and its matching activity both stay in the pool.

Design & language

Classic, modern, kids, or AI Layout — plus your own ink, paper, and accent colors. Type for titles/headlines and body: serif, sans, rounded, or mono. Classic uses an italic masthead on light newsprint. AI Layout: the model plans page structure with fixed guardrails (cover, contents, flow/pair/stack); code materializes it — classic/modern/kids stay unchanged. The whole issue in one language.

Crossword

Optional puzzle from the issue content — to solve on paper.

A newspaper front page

Dateline, large masthead, hero photo with caption, then two teaser columns with more space between them. Page 2 is Contents & places: a table of contents with page numbers and an OpenStreetMap map that frames all numbered places from story coordinates with a bit of surrounding context. Inner pages stack like a newspaper: headline, meta, one hero photo, body text. Extra photos only when there is enough room — no thin photo strips. Up to 6 photos per story; every photo from the layout appears in the PDF, the rest via the QR — plus a line for author, date, place, and weather when available.

Full text & quotes

Stories appear in full, uncut. Long articles flow across pages with a continuation. A line from the text or a reader comment becomes a newspaper pull quote in the text; the quoted sentence is not repeated.

AI art-director pass

After the code layout, an optional AI pass reviews each page for newspaper look (alignment, whitespace, photo scale) and may adjust position, size, and type within fixed rules — a clear stack of headline, photo, and text, without photos covering copy or QR codes. You keep the final say in the editor.

A print issue you can hold

The final PDF is A4 and print-ready: print, staple or bind, gift, or hang it up. Digitally, the public short link remains — recipients need no owner login.

Imprint page

Every issue ends with an imprint page using publisher and contact details from Settings → Legal notice.

Layout editor

Pick pages at the top, drag elements, scale from a corner — type size stays fixed (change it only in the right-hand panel); layout and PDF use the same fonts. Drag a photo to pan the crop. Page columns 1–3 and text columns per article — with more space between columns throughout, especially when two stories share a page. Move a whole article to another page. Toolbar typefaces apply to the whole issue. If AI lightly refined the layout, you see a note — you can still move everything. Moving, scaling, and adjusting save automatically. Saving and regenerating do not count as an issue.

PDF & quota

Final PDF by email and download. Four issues in 12 months included; extra issues for purchase. Finalized issues stay in the archive.

Share the PDF

After finalizing, a public short link — copy or pass it on. Recipients need no owner login; they open or save the PDF. You can turn access off again at any time.

Process

How it comes into your club

  1. Start an issue Under Magazine → + New: period, sources, stories, design, typefaces, and language. The pool arrives without tests, empty posts, or emoji-only comments. Optional crossword. When the layout is ready, the registered owner admin always gets an email. Then create the layout.
  2. Wait for the layout Generation runs in the background: first the code layout with full text, continuations, quotes, and QR codes at the end of the text — a stack of headline → photo → text, without overlaps — then an optional AI polish for position and type. If AI fails, the code layout stays. While it runs, the editor shows that the magazine is being created and an email will arrive. You may close the page; the link in the email takes you back to the editor.
  3. Fine-tune, PDF & print If AI refined the layout, the editor says so. Adjust title and copy, drag and scale — you keep the last word. Finalize PDF saves first and counts toward the quota; then download for printing or share via the short link. Older drafts: regenerate once so the cover with two teaser columns, Contents & places with the OpenStreetMap map of all places, newspaper stack, full text, continuation, quotes without duplication, typefaces, imprint, QR at the end of the text, up to 6 photos, and the AI polish apply.

Up to 4 issues in 12 months — extra issues available to buy.
